SUSTAINABILITY

Ecoworks Marine sustainability ethos

Sustainability is at our core. We've made it our mission to provide sustainable choices to the marine world.

There is no more excuses to use toxic chemical cleaners. Gone are the days when ‘green’ or ‘eco’ cleaners were inferior in performance.

Toxic chemicals harm the oceans.

They harm the surfaces they are used on.

And most importantly, they harm the people using them.

From small boat users to superyachts, marinas to boatyards - people are making better choices when it comes to cleaning products and sustainability.

Ecoworks Marine products are made from naturally derived ingredients from renewable and sustainably sourced raw materials. The cleaners are formulated for the lowest possible toxicity and the ultimate biodegradability

Amongst other qualities, Ecoworks products are phosphate-free, palm oil free, not tested on animals, paraben-free and pH balanced.

All Ecoworks Marine Preserve the Living Seas® products are compliant and surpass the MARPOL Annex 5 1.7.5 criteria and are declared not harmful to the marine or river environment.

SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR PRODUCTS

SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR INGREDIENTS

Ecoworks Marine products use only the best and most secure natural ingredients available to produce a range that performs exceptionally well and with the minimum stress on the fauna and flora of our oceans and rivers.

Traditional cleaners have used toxic chemicals for decades, and surprisingly still do. Those cleaning products have a negative impact on human health and damage the environment.

We are championing sustainability in marine and yacht cleaning and it starts with our ingredients offering performance with sustainability.

BIODEGRADABILITY

Ecoworks Marine products meet the Ultimate level of biodegradability meaning up to 80% biodegrades within the first 28 days and remaining within a 90 day period.

SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR PACKAGING

Our products come in plastic bottles.  We use recycled plastic. We also consciously choose to use clear plastic bottles, as they are most widely recycled. The type of plastic we use is: HDPE2. HDPE is commonly recycled, and has the number "2" as its resin identification code.

This is the packaging that we have identified as the best option for now.

Alternative options like glass and biodegradable plastics may seem like good alternatives, but in this case, they are not. You can read about it on our blog page, here

The biggest impact we offer in terms of packaging is that many of our cleaners are sold in concentrate. Which means that for one litre of concentrate, you get 10 litres of products.

If you compare that to many ready-to-use cleaners you buy off the shelf, you are using 1 plastic bottle, instead of 10.

Importantly, we are continuously working on improving our packaging.

Many superyachts buy our products in large bottles and set up refill stations for crew use. We can offer refill pumps that attach to the large containers to set up refill stations - which we highly encourage.

SUSTAINABILITY & PERFORMANCE

Ecoworks Marine cleaners are proven powerful cleaners - whether cleaning bilges or hypalon, kitchens or washrooms, each of the products have been formulated to effectively work to remove dirt, grease and grime.

SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR PRODUCTION

At our production facility all cardboard and plastic waste is recycled and as biodegradable as possible with all raw materials being entirely biodegradable.

Cold blending processes are used during production to reduce energy consumption as much as possible.

Priority for supply of raw materials, packaging and services is given to local companies.

We formulate effective product concentrates to reduce shipping costs, waste emissions and fully optimise our shipping volume to packaging weight ratio.

SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR SUPPLY CHAIN

Our suppliers are subject to an approval process to ensure that their products and services meet our stringent quality requirements.
